MACON, Ga. — While you may be waiting on your holiday packages, a package destined for a Macon home ended with four people in jail on Thursday.
It comes after a multi-agency investigation uncovered illegal drug possession and the possession of an illegal tool that can turn a pistol into a machine gun, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
They say investigators learned that a Glock Sear — an illegal device that can turn a normal gun into a machine gun — was set to be delivered to a home in the 3700 block of Greenway Place.
That's why the investigation included federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the United States Postal Inspectors.
As investigators surveilled the home, they saw a resident take the package into the home, which prompted a search of the home.
During the search, they uncovered 20 grams of methamphetamines along with several firearms, including one gun that was stolen during a Bibb County car break-in on Nov. 1, the sheriff's office said in the press release.
They say Christian Winters, 17, was in possession of the Glock Sear and was charged with possession of a machine gun during the commission of a crime, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a person under eighteen years old.
Devon Andrew Winters, 17, is also charged with possession of a machine gun during the commission of a crime.
They say Hunter Wayne Smith, 24, is a wanted fugitive from Alabama and was in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
Brittany Leann Sheffield, 35, was also arrested and charged with possession of schedule two narcotics and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
