One event is hoping to raise awareness of Black maternal health issues among underserved mothers

It's hosted by Mothers Nest which is a non-profit organization. They were founded in 2022.

MACON, Ga. — The first Annual Stroller Strut takes place on Saturday.

At the event, you can walk, talk and shine a spotlight on black maternal health issues.

It's hosted by Mothers Nest which is a non-profit organization. They were founded in 2022.

"We established Mother’s Nest to address the growing need and concern about the increased rate of maternal mortality rate in the black and brown community," according to the organization's website. "Therefore, we want to give access to essential baby supplies to disenfranchised young mothers. By offering these resources, we aim to improve mothers’ and babies’ health and well-being."

They provide training, support and baby supplies for underserved young women in Central Georgia.

“We service people where their loved ones are incarcerated because they are victims too,” Mothers Nest Executive Director Sabrina Friday says.

Friday said the organization fills a vital need that is often under-served.

They believe that those families need support, Friday said.

“We call them the under-served community because sometimes they get left out,” Friday said.

The event is this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Amerson River Park.
