MACON, Ga. — Marquitta Robinson was working her usual shift on a rainy Friday night last week when an armed robber entered the Circle-K on Vineville with a gun and demanded cash from the register.
"And the man just came in, and I didn’t know what was happening at first," Robinson said. "But then he tapped the gun on the counter."
Robinson says the gun was being concealed by a drying towel, which is visible in the photo released by the Bibb County Sheriff following the incident.
"After the whole situation, I was like — I really could’ve been dead," Robinson said. "I'm just glad it didn't turn out that way."
Robinson says she followed company protocol after the robbery which includes calling the police immediately.
"I called the cops right away," she said. "Then I called my mom and my store manager. Everyone made it here around the same time, right after the police."
Robinson recalls it rainy heavily when the robbery occurred which made it difficult for her to spot where the man went after leaving the store.
According to the Bibb County Sherriff's Office, the person was wearing all dark clothing, a black motorcycle helmet and a gray tee shirt covering his face. They say he took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on a bicycle.
As for Robinson, she says the past few days have been tough mentally, and she is still recovering from the incident.
"It did scare and traumatize me a bit," she said. "Like I don’t want to be at the store by myself. But my coworkers are here with me and reassuring me. But it has been tough. It just happened you know."
