MACON, Ga. — Two of the remaining Bibb County Commission seats were decided in the Tuesday run-off elections: District 8 and District 3.
It comes after the other commission races were decided outright in the primary election back on May 21.
Incumbent District 2 commissioner Paul Bronson was reelected as was District 5’s Seth Clark and District 7’s Bill Howell.
Brendalyn Bailey, who was appointed by Mayor Lester Miller to fill the seat of long-time commissioner Al Tillman when he stepped down, was elected to a full term as the District 9 commissioner.
But in District 3, neither Melvin Flowers nor Stanley Stewart passed the 50% threshold to win outright. That was also the case for Donice Bryant and Kim Jenkins in District 8.
After a hard-fought campaign, here are the results for these commission races.
District 8:
Donice Bryant: 66.29%, 466 VOTES
Kim Jenkins: 33.71%, 237 VOTES
District 3:
Melvin Flowers: 34.45%, 349 VOTES
Stanley Stewart: 65.55%, 664 VOTES
Many of the incumbent commissioners were unable to run for re-election because of term limits. That includes District 3 commissioner Elaine Lucas and District 8 commissioner Virgil Watkins.
This means there will be some new faces in the commission year.
