MACON, Ga. — Friday night, the Tubman Museum held a special reception to celebrate a local photographer making a difference in the community with his photography.
Earlier this week, we introduced you to photographer Matthew Odom, and Friday, people gathered at the Tubman to enjoy his work.
People viewed some of the special moments Odom has captured through the lens of his camera. Odom is a Macon native who graduated from Mercer University.
He's received a number of awards over the years including the Reader's Choice award for Best Local Photographer from the 11th Hour Magazine in 2015 and 2016. Odom says the support from the community means everything.
"It meant something near and dear to my heart -- one, to be at an African American museum, and number two, to be an African American male and be able to be an artist, and to also to be able to show my work here under the banner of Harriet Tubman," said Odom.
This is Odom's first museum exhibit.
