MACON, Ga. — In recent years, it seems like the number of opioid overdoses has been growing.
To combat these statistics, Macon Recovers and the state department of public health held Narcan training on Saturday.
They shared strategies on how to react in an overdose situation, and also shared tips on how to administer Narcan, life saving medicine.
Recovery coaches from Macon Recovers and a state department of public health overdose specialist were in attendance, and offered health tips and training during the demonstrations.
Macon Recovers also offers training anytime they are open, at the Recovery Center.
Their mission is to mobilize resources inside and outside use the community to get people back on the road of short term and long term recovery .
They said that administering Narcan if the person has anything other than opioids in their system won't harm them, so its better to administer it if you aren't sure. It comes in nasal spray and needle form.
