Macon families get presents during Christmas Toy Giveaway

The Lois-Taylor Institute for Excellence partnered with Macon organizations to make sure that kids got lots of toys for Christmas.

MACON, Ga. — Folks in Macon lined up on Saturday at the doors of Fuze Chiropractic for a toy giveaway.

It was sponsored by the Lois-Taylor Institute for Excellence, who partnered with Macon businesses to make sure every kid got a toy for the holidays.

It started at 10 a.m., and toys were lined up on tables sorted by age and gender. There were basketballs, toy trucks, Legos, action figures, Nerf guns, Barbie dolls, dress up kits, and more.

There were also tables of books and puzzles for kids of all ages to choose from.

Organizers of the event ay the inspiration for the giveaway stemmed from a Christmas feast they put on for many years where they would feed 1500 and give toys away under another organization. Parents wanted them to help others and serve the community as  people fall on hard times, and they decided to do something on their own.

Around 1000-1200 toys were given away, to at least 500 households.

Individuals, friends, and families donated items throughout the community. the organizations usually do the giveaway on Christmas Day, but changed it be on the weekend so kids can have that moment when they wake up and presents are under the tree.

The giveaway lasts until 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 23.
