MACON, Ga. — A Macon couple marked a very important event at a historic location in Macon - Luther Williams Field last week.
On October 22, Nick and Amanda Green tied the knot at the stadium, holding the first wedding ever at Luther Williams in its entire 93-year history.
Nick Green, the groom, used to work for the Macon Bacon and the couple had a fully baseball-themed wedding.
The couple began dating in 2017 when they both lived in Michigan, according to the couple's website. By 2018, they moved into an apartment together and got their first dog.
Nick and Amanda slowly got to know each other's parents over that time, and Nick helped Amanda and her family through the difficult loss of her father. Amanda says this is when she knew Nick was the one for her.
In 2019, Nick accepted a job working for the Macon Bacon in Macon, Georgia. From March to June, Nick and Amanda were long-distance and spent a lot of time texting and connecting over the phone. That June, Amanda and the dogs were finally able to move down to Georgia with Nick.
Then, in 2021, the couple took a trip to the Smokey Mountains, where Nick was secretly planning to propose to Amanda.
They stopped in Gatlinburg for a hike, and Nicks's planned hiking trail was closed, so they went to the Rainbow Falls Trail instead.
There Nick asked Amanda to marry him in front of a waterfall, and of course, she said yes.
After a while of planning, they decided to have the wedding at Williams Luther field.
Nick and Amanda spoke with 13WMAZ about their special day and gave us access to some of their photos.
They are included in a gallery below, and all credit goes to Anna Cahill Photography.
