MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two people stole a Macon church’s van out of the church’s parking lot.
According to an incident report, a deputy was sent to Vineville Baptist Church just before 8 a.m. Monday.
When they got to the scene, they met with a man who said he was watching the church’s cameras on his phone when he saw their 2017 Chevrolet Express 15-passenger van (tag #CIP8957) was gone.
They reviewed camera footage at a computer in the church and saw the suspects taking the black vinyl lettering off the side of the van before taking it away.
Here's what was caught on camera:
- At 2:08 a.m., a dark-colored car stopped on Pierce Avenue. Someone in a hoodie got out of the passenger side and walked through the church parking lot.
- At 2:37 a.m., the suspect was seen trying to get into the driver side door to get inside the van. He made his way into the van and got out two minutes later. He then lifted the hood.
- At 3:12 a.m., a second suspect walked up to the van and got in with the first suspect.
- At 3:29 a.m., one of the suspects left the church parking lot and walked back across the street. Two minutes later, the van is driven out of the parking lot and turns right onto Pierce Avenue.
