MACON, Ga. — Macon-Bibb County is launching a new app that allows folks to track and report blight.
Local leaders demonstrated how to use the app Tuesday.
The interactive tool will be piloted in the Historic Pleasant Hill neighborhood.
The app will allow people to report properties, upload photos, see a map of other blighted properties, and sign up for notifications on progress steps for a specific property.
Tedra Huston with the Bibb County Community Enhancement Authority explained that the app tracks, "Homes that have been burnt down, homes that have been abandoned -- not only does it alleviate the current blighted situation, but it also stops new homes from being blighted."
An estimated 6,000 properties are currently considered blighted in the county.
