MACON, Ga. — A Macon man has been charged in connection with a shooting that left a Macon mother dead.
According to a news release, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office along with the U.S. Marshals South East Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 21-year-old Austin Sharrod Mason at a home on Pinedale Drive Thursday afternoon.
On November 7, 2019, 30-year-old Shakema Dickson was shot to death in her home on Pio Nono Circle. Dickson's 2-year-old was also shot in the home, but survived.
The release says when Mason saw deputies and marshals approaching he ran from them. He was taken into custody without incident a short distance away in a drainage culvert.
Mason is charged with Malice Murder, Aggravated Assault and Cruelty to Children First Degree. He also had warrants for Criminal Damage to Property and Simple Battery Family Violence in an unrelated case. He is being held without bond at this time.
