MONTROSE, Ga. — When you visit a town of just 200, you don't expect to have a world-class haunted house that brings tourists near and far.
But nestled in Montrose in Laurens County sits a site of terrors and frights: Haunted Montrose.
Over the course of 16 years, Haunted Montrose has been a fixture of the haunted house scene here in Central Georgia.
But at the end of this season, Haunted Montrose will be closing its doors for good, as their founder Trey Cottle prepares for his next journey in retirement.
“This has been an incredible journey, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has made Haunted Montrose a success over the years,” Cottle said in a statement. “As I retire and close this chapter, I want to invite all Halloween lovers and longtime fans to join us for one last season of frights. Let’s make this final year the best one yet.”
The haunted house says it has a lot in store for its last season.
This year has four haunted houses featuring a "diverse range of terrifying themes," some of which are brand new and others longtime fans may recognize as they ring in their last season.
They also say they have some special farewell events to help long and new fans ring in the end of an era.
"Don’t miss your chance to be a part of Haunted Montrose's grand finale," the haunted house said in their press release. "Get ready for one last, unforgettable fright, and join us as we say goodbye to a Halloween tradition."
