'Going to get busier and busier': Warner Robins costume store ramps up for Halloween

One Warner Robins retailer offers up a taste of spooky season year-round. But with Halloween only a few weeks away, they are getting ready for an influx of shoppers.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — With less than two weeks until Halloween, tricksters and treaters are gearing up — literally.

Every year, new crazes and trends keep the costume lineup fresh.

But locals never seem to be able to get enough of spooky season here, one Warner Robins costume store owner said.

Jerry Bradley and his wife Marion Bradley are co-owners of Discount Costumes & Comics on Watson Boulevard.

While they are open all year round, Holloween is their busiest time of year.

They have two locations, including Balloons-N-Parties which offers "mascot costume rentals, inflatables, tents, table and chairs, and professional balloon decor," Bradley said in a text.

Most people, like the Daniels family, try to make sure they're dressed in the spookiest, silliest or most stylish fads.

Khloe, 8, says she'll "probably be a cheerleader or probably something spooky." She wants her 3-year-old brother, Malachi, to be a Paw Patrol character.

Their dad, Aubery, wants his son to be a doctor for Halloween, hoping he can "teach them young" and inspire him into his future career aspirations.

"I'm injury-prone, so I figured if he could be a doctor, I could get medical care for free!" Aubery said.

They prefer the treats over tricks.

"I look forward to stealing my kid's candy," Aubery said. "It is great. I don't have to go to the store and buy candy. I'm just trying to prevent them from having cavities."

Bradley thinks he's lucky because he gets to have his very own kind of treat every day by interacting with his customers.

"Everybody's unique!" he said.

Since the Bradley's opened shop 20 years ago in 2003, they've seen trends come and go.

Some costumes are timeless, according to the store owner, and will always remain the most popular, such as clowns and flappers.

"Certain costumes never go out of style," Bradley said.

However, he notices newly released movies have an influence on the newer trends, like Barbie and Oppenheimer —which sold out as soon as it hit Bradley's shelves.

"People were having the Barbie-slash-Oppenheimer merge parties!" he said. "So yeah, that went by pretty fast."

Whether you're getting an elaborate fit for fashion or need some last-minute supplies for your Do-It-Yourself costume, time's running out!

"As we get closer to that special day, it's going to get busier and busier," Bradley said. "So, if anybody needs any costumes, better hurry!"
