BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. — A Laurens County deputy was injured after a crash in Brooks County on Saturday, according to a report from the Georgia State Patrol.
They say it happened around 7:45 a.m. A trooper was dispatched to a two-car crash on GA 122 at GA 333 in Brooks County.
When the trooper arrived, he found two pickup trucks side by side on the southwest shoulder of the intersection.
The trooper determined a Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound on GA 122 and a Ford F350 was traveling southbound on GA 333, the report says.
The driver of the Toyota failed to yield after stopping at a stop sign at the intersection of GA 122 and GA 333. The report says the Ford struck the Toyota on the passenger side.
After impact, both cars traveled toward the southwest shoulder of the intersection where they came to a final rest.
The passenger in the Toyota was later identified as an off-duty Lauren County deputy. He sustained serious injuries from the crash and was airlifted to the Shands Hospital in Gainsville, Florida for treatment.
Laurens Sheriff Larry Dean posted on Facebook about the accident, asking prayers for Captain Chris Bracewell and his family.
There is also a GoFundMe for Captain Bracewell to help with medical expenses.
