WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Kids learned the importance of dental hygiene on Saturday during an annual Dentist for the Day Program in Warner Robins.
The event was held at the office of Dr. Vincent Carey at 700 Professional Drive from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Carey says 90-90% of kids are afraid of the dentist. He wanted to alleviate some fears by giving kids a chance to handle tools and learn about dental health.
Kids got to use a magnifier and even a scraper on the dentist.
Many of the students were from LH Williams Elementary.
"LH Williams is still alive and well they have some amazing students there that ask some amazing questions and the sound of interest was beyond belief, beyond belief and that is something we want to keep and build on right there," Dr. Carey said.
The office has been hosting the event for over six years.
They hope annual events like the one on Saturday will encourage kids to consider dentistry as a career path.
