Mrs. Lori Sammons has been teaching at Pearl Stephens Elementary school for the last two years.
"My favorite thing to teach is probably math and social studies," Sammons said.
But Khaibron Edwards, who nominated her for the award, says she spices up her lessons.
"She taught us to multiply and divide a decimal number by ten. She played the song, 'I Like to Move It, Move It,' from Madagascar," Edwards said.
She says she always looks for fun ways to help her students remember what she teaches.
"They're so good at singing, they're so good at dancing, so anytime I can bring music into the classroom, not only does it fill my heart, but it also helps them learn," Sammons said.
But it's not all about singing in Mrs. Sammons class. She also likes for students to work together.
"We'll turn and talk to our partners and talk about what we learned," Edwards said.
And Mrs. Sammons says they all support each other.
"My class will just break out into people clapping for one another, and that just warms my heart," Sammons said.
But there is one thing all her students can agree on.
"Shes a very awesome teacher," student Jessica Matos said.
