WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — At Warner Robins Middle School this week's Top Teacher teaches seventh grade science. The email nominating him actually came from a parent, not a student.
Mr. Jimmy Oglesby also known as "Mr. O" has been teaching at Warner Robins Middle School since 2007.
He's not new to us at 13WMAZ. He was also a My Teacher is Tops winner in 2017.
Hannah Manns is the mom who nominated Mr. O.
Her son Jalen was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018 and because of his medical challenges, he does school from home.
Mr. O first started being Jalen's homebound teacher at the start of the 2022 school year.. and he goes to their house to teach Jalen every week.
Jalen and his mom are thankful for Mr. O's impact on their lives.

"He allows his students opportunities to be understood and valued. Every child in his presence has felt that compassion, they have felt his care, they have felt valued just for being them," Hannah said.
Jalen says Mr. O has been a big help.
"I've been greatly appreciating Mr. O. He has taught me for two years and I couldn't think of any teacher that has understood me more than Mr. O," he said.
Mr. Oglesby says his favorite thing about teaching is when students let him into their world and give him the chance to lead and guide them.
"Every child that I meet is important. Every child that I meet deserves. It is not my job to discern what that child is going through, my job is to get that child to the next step. And I give all I have to every kid that I am honored to have the opportunity to touch," he said.
Congratulations Mr. Oglesby!
