My Teacher is Tops: Paul Conyers at East Laurens Middle School in East Dublin

Coach Paul Conyers teaches 8th-grade physical science and Georgia history at East Laurens Middle School.

EAST DUBLIN, Ga. — In middle school, students take physical science – studying the inorganic world – rocks, atoms, motion, energy, and more! This week's My Teacher is Tops brings physical science to life.

Coach Paul Conyers teaches 8th-grade physical science and Georgia history at East Laurens Middle School.

He used to cross country and other sports at the school but he left the sidelines for the head of the class.

He's been working at East Laurens since 2008 and has been teaching since 2012. My teacher is tops is not his only award!

Coach Conyers is also East Laurens Middle's teacher of the quarter and teacher of the year.

His fellow teachers notice his excellence in the classroom and so do his students.

Especially, one 8th grader Kayleigh Paul. She says Coach Conyers makes science fun.

"He always finds a way to keep me and my peers engaged and eager to learn. He is also super supportive and very kind and genuinely cares about each and every one of his students," she said.

Conyers says being a teacher is all about watching students grow into the best version of themselves. He says he's humbled to be nominated for these awards.

"I mean all of these have been a surprise but it's all due to the students that I teach. I'm nothing here without the ones I have in front of me every day. I'm just thankful that I've been able to have great students and great support staff that I have been able to work with," Conyers said.

Congratulations Coach Conyers!
