The Houston County Sharks took to the court for practice this week to prepare for their game with players from the Macon Mayhem.
The Sharks have racked up an impressive stats list and look forward to adding another win.
"In the 11 years we've played, we've won 22 state championships," Christy Jones, Houston County Adaptive Sports Coordinator and Sharks team coach said.
The team learns to shoot three-pointers, free throws, and dribble, all with the extra asset of a wheelchair, but with no different regulations than that of able-bodied basketball teams.
"We use standard basketball height, goal, and a regular basketball,' Jones said.
Come Wednesday, the team will use their skills to try to bring home a win against the Mayhem just as they did when the two faced off in football.
"We actually beat them by several touchdowns," Jones described.
She says it's all in good fun, and is thankful that the team keeps coming back, and bringing more players every year.
"We love it that we have athletes of their standard coming and playing," Jones said.
This game is before the Sharks' regular season, which starts Saturday.
The matchup with the Mayhem will be Wednesday Night at 6:30 p.m. at Houston County High School.
Admission is $5 and all proceeds go to helping buy equipment, such as wheelchairs for the Sharks.
