Jones County deputy in serious condition after head-on crash

Gray Police say a teen failed to yield at an intersection, hitting the deputy and causing the deputy to hit another car

JONES COUNTY, Ga. — A Jones County deputy and another driver were hospitalized after a three-car accident Saturday afternoon.

According to Lt. Jacob Hunnicutt with the Gray Police Department, it happened around 3:45 p.m.

He says a juvenile was driving down Georgia SR 18 East at the intersection of the connector when they failed to yield and side-swiped a Jones County deputy.

The collision caused the deputy's cruiser to hit another car head-on.

Hunnicutt says the deputy is in serious, but stable condition. The driver that the deputy hit is in stable condition.

The juvenile was uninjured.

Hunnicutt says he has no information on charges related to the accident yet because it is still under investigation.
