'Jesus' banner battle in Warner Robins

Sister Dina, who runs the 'Prayer Chapel,' said her landlord is evicting her because of her 'Jesus' banner. Her landlord said it is because she failed to pay rent.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — If you have driven past the 'Prayer Chapel' in Warner Robins recently, you have probably seen a banner with 'Jesus' spelled out in letters measuring 7 feet tall.

Dina Michel-Wiggins, also known as Sister Dina, claims her landlord wants the banner to come down.

Sister Dina runs the Prayer Chapel out of her garage.

In October, she relieved a young man of his gun through the power of prayer.

"Rich, poor, in between, they come here to the chapel. They receive prayer. If they need food, they receive it. If they need clothes, they receive it. Whatever it is I can help them with," Sister Dina said.

She says God called her to paint a banner that reads "come to Jesus as you are."

But she said her landlord, William Tritt of Tritt Construction Company, is trying to evict her because she refuses to take the banner down.

"I will stand up for religious liberty and that it doesn't happen to anyone else," Sister Dina said.

"She didn't pay her rent and I'm putting her out. It has nothing to do about religion. I don't discriminate," Tritt said by phone.

But, Sister Dina is not convinced this is the only reason.

"This banner will not be forced down. I will not bring it down," she said.

According to Warner Robins Code Enforcement, city code states the owner must consent to letting a tenant place a banner on the premises, and Tritt says he has not.

"They closed that case and considered it to be a landlord and tenant matter," Sister Dina said.

She said she will continue to fight against her eviction and keep her banner up until her case reaches the Houston County Superior Court.
