Friday night, Macon native and country music superstar, Jason Aldean, played for a sold-out crowd at the Macon Centreplex.
100 percent of the ticket sales go towards the new $63 million children’s hospital being constructed on the corner of Pine Street and Spring Street.
This is the second concert Aldean has done in Macon in the last two years.
Last April, he played at the Grand Opera House in downtown Macon and raised over half a million dollars for the Navicent Health Children’s Hospital.
Before Aldean took the stage Friday night, he spent the afternoon in his hometown, Macon, Georgia.
“You know, when I left here, one thing that you kind of want to do is go out and sort of make your hometown proud, and I’ve sort of tried to do it over the years,” says Aldean.
Aldean and his wife also visited patients in the Children’s Hospital Friday afternoon.
“I can’t think of a better thing to donate your time and money to than that,” says Aldean.
But the City of Macon and the Medical Center Navicent Health also donated something to Aldean Friday afternoon, a street named in his honor.
“Having a street named after you is pretty cool. I mean, that’s pretty cool, I probably got a speeding ticket on that street when I was younger,” says Aldean.
Friday afternoon, Aldean told WMAZ he hopes to make this concert an annual event.
