In the Kitchen: How to take your Thanksgiving leftovers to the next level with these egg rolls

Author and cook Suzanne Johnson takes a new spin on leftover turkey after Thanksgiving.

MACON, Ga. — After Thanksgiving ends, most people don't know what to do with all those leftovers.

That's why USA Today Best Selling Author Suzanne Johnson showed us a recipe for fried turkey egg rolls.

Johnson said you will need egg wrappers, leftover cubed or shredded turkey, cranberry sauce, and cornbread dressing.

Once you are done putting out your ingredients, you will lay your egg roll wrapper on the table. Then, you will simply top the egg roll wrapper with the turkey, cranberry sauce, and dressing.

Johnson explains how to wrap the fried egg rolls before frying them.

"Then I'm gonna let you assemble, and then we're going to wrap them up in a cute little bow," Johnson said.

She says you can fry the egg rolls for no more than two minutes in a deep fryer, but there are other ways to cook the egg rolls.

"A deep fryer or Dutch oven. You can put them in the air fryer. They just don't bubble up, and it's just aren't as decadent as the deep fryer," said Johnson.

After they are cooked, Johnson says you can dip the egg rolls in gravy or cranberry sauce to make it more savory or sweet. You can find all these ingredients at local stores like Publix, Walmart, or Kroger.
