In the kitchen with Suzanne Johnson: Making corn casserole for Thanksgiving dinner

Author and cook Suzanne Johnson whips up some cheesy corn casserole just in time to serve at Thanksgiving!

MACON, Ga. — We are in the Thanksgiving season, and there's a fun recipe that you can try with your family. USA Today Best Selling Author Suzanne Johnson showed us how to make Cheesy Corn Casserole, a Thanksgiving side dish.

After you set up your bowl and spoon, Johnson said you would need a can of cream corn, cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, butter and the popular Jiffy Cornbread mix.

Then, you will simply dump all those ingredients into a bowl.

"Then we're going to mix all that up together and get it nice and incorporated. And you're going to bake this at 350 for about 30 to 40 minutes or until the center is set, " said Johnson.

Johnson says you don't have to grease the bottom of your glass dish or pan because of the added butter. She says you can add jalapenos to the mix to make the casserole spicy.

"I've had some members of my family that love spicy foods. Yes, they have done it with added jalapenos into it", said Johnson.

Once it's done, you and the whole family can enjoy Cheesy Corn Casserole. Johnson said you can save it as leftovers after you put it in the refrigerator overnight.

You can pick up those ingredients at retail stores like Walmart, Kroger, or Food Depot.
