HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — Some counties in Georgia are still waiting on their new voting machines.
Bibb County got their delivery at the end of January, but Houston County will have to wait until Monday.
They are one of the last counties in Georgia to get that delivery, along with Pulaski, Twiggs, Laurens, Monroe, and Treutlen.
With the Presidential Primary early voting less than a month away, Andrew Holland with the Houston County Board of Elections said he's not worried.
"I have no doubt that we'll get the machines, it'll be a lot of work."
Haley Bacon lives in Perry and said she didn't know about the new voting machines. She thinks they are a cool concept, but having them come in so close to an election does worry her.
"It's not a lot of time to get brand new machines and get everyone trained up on them, so that would be a concern."
Holland said it will be all hands on deck as soon as the boxes of 440 touchscreen units and 36 scanners arrive.
"We'll have to put the work in to get them all unpacked and get them all labeled."
He said they plan to start training on the machines on the 18th.
"Which should give us two solid weeks of testing to be prepared for early voting, and I think it's entirely doable."
Holland said they'll be bringing in extra help next week to unpack those boxes and make sure everything is ready to go.
Twiggs and Pulaski County got their machines on Tuesday, Laurens and Monroe are scheduled to get theirs delivered Wednesday, and both Treutlen and Houston should have theirs on Monday.
