HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Houston County School District recognized some special teachers by inducting them into the Hall of Fame.

The Houston County Teacher Hall of Fame recognizes extraordinary classroom teachers who affected the lives of their students.

Nominees must have taught in Houston County Schools for at least 20 years.

This year, they inducted five teachers with more than 160 years of service combined.

They are Debbie Meck, Jane Adams, Jane Belflower, Mary Gentry, and Patricia Ogletree.

"It's very humbling, and I'm just so grateful that they do something like this, and I'm very grateful they asked me to be a part of it," said Hawkinsville teacher and inductee Mary Gentry.

The Houston County Teacher Hall of Fame dates back to 2007.
