'Please help us' | Houston County family asking for answers about missing brother

Jesus Mancilla-Velez went missing Sept. 5, 2020. His family is asking everyone to continue supporting them in the search.

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — Four years after a Houston County man disappeared, his family says they will continue to fight for him.

Jesus Mancilla Velez went missing on Sept. 5, 2020. He was supposed to be headed to a trip to Savannah, Georgia with friends, but never made it.

Investigators found his 2015 Chevy Tahoe off of Rowland Road and Highway 42.

"I say to everybody, 'Please help us, pray for him,'" the Mancilla family said in 2020.

The family still believes he will be found safe.

"We never imagined to be here in this situation," Lizbeth Mancilla said.

She is asking for the community to help to find Jesus Mancilla.

"That's why we ask the community to help us not forget him," Mancilla said.

Velez's nieces Daisy and Ashley Mancilla said their last moments with him will stay with them forever.

"It will forever hold something in my heart because if I would have known that was going to be the last time I was with him I would have said my last words to him," Mancilla said.

They said they will remember him as funny and loving.

The family is continuing to ask the community for their support in helping find Jesus. Whether it's remembering what they saw that day in 2020 or coming to Sunday's vigil.

The vigil will be held on Sunday at 3:45 P.M. m on Rowland Road off of Highway 42 in Crawford County.
