PERRY, Ga. — Houston County firefighters were out investigating Tuesday after a Perry church burned in a fire over the weekend.
Friendship Baptist Church located on 400 block of Hodge Road was destroyed Sunday.
Houston County Chief Fire Investigator William Smith says the fire took a couple of hours to put out.
Investigators say at this point, they don't know what caused the fire.
They weren't able to really look at the church until Tuesday, because of the rainy weather.
Investigators say it was an active church.
Houston County has contacted the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for help with the investigation.
This is a developing story, and will be updated as more details become available.
