DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A house in DeKalb County suffered significant damage and one toddler suffered minor injuries after a large tree collapsed on top of it on Friday morning.

DeKalb County Fire said the tree fell down on the residence along McJenkin Drive, not far from Brookhaven.

Family told 11Alive's Liza Lucas they are pretty shaken up but that they are doing OK. The mom said she was taking her 2 1/2-year-old son to the hospital to check on a bump on his head from the fallen tree. Their 6-month-old daughter is safe, family said.

The family also said there is considerable damage to the home but that they are able to relocate to a family member's home in the area while Georgia Power comes out to assess the damage. The dad said that he heard a loud boom and knew a tree had fallen. He ran into his 7-year-old son's room and pushed the door open and found extensive damage in that area of the house.
