Here's how you can help with Stuff the Truck 2024

13WMAZ is partnering with the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank to collect food donations to help families through the holidays.

MACON, Ga. — It’s that time of year, just like in years past, we need your help to Stuff the Truck!

The simple definition of food insecurity is simply a person who doesn’t know where their next meal will come from to put on the table.

At our Stuff the Truck event in 2023, many told us they gave because they were once food insecure.

Other folks said they knew Central Georgia has thousands of hungry children.

The need is always there, and this year, there are financial factors that have made things.

The number of middle Georgia neighbors facing food insecurity is up by 25%, compared to a year ago.  As heartbreaking as knowing that one in seven middle Georgians is food insecure, it’s even more startling to realize that one in four children does not have consistent access to healthy food.

The goal is to collect nonperishable food donations for over 200 partner agencies in our 24-county area. Last year’s Stuff the Truck drive collected a record 61,208 pounds of food.

The number of folks requesting food is down, but in 24 Central Georgia counties, it is covered by the food bank.

Stuff the Truck will be even bigger this year.

This fall schools across Central Georgia including private and public schools, are doing food drives to help stuff the truck.
And we're making it easier for you to get in on the giving.

You'll find those food bank donation boxes in more places, too - at Walmarts in Macon, Warner Robins, Dublin and Milledgeville.

13WMAZ is partnering with the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank to help feed families in our community throughout the holiday season, but we can’t do it alone. We’re going to need you to get involved to make it happen.

Because between all of us, we can bridge the gap around the holidays and help our neighbors.

We hope to see you at our locations and thank you for your in-person contribution.

They will be parked in front of the Walmart stores at the times listed below.

Milledgeville:  2592 N Columbia St on Nov. 19th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dublin: 2423 US-80 West on Nov. 20th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Macon: 5955 Zebulon Rd on Nov. 21st from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
