Mayor of Gordon issues boil water advisory until further notice

The press release does not offer a timeline for when the issue will be revolved.

GORDON, Ga. — The Mayor of Gordon Aprill Adside Smith has issued a boil water advisory, according to an email and document from the mayor.

“The City of Gordon has issued a Boil Water Advisory until further Notice,” the mayor wrote.

Smith tells 13WMAZ that there is a water main break on Pine Street.

What to do while under a boil water advisory

When under a boil water advisory, you should only use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and brushing your teeth, according to the CDC.

When boiling the water, allow it to come to a full rolling boil for 1 minute, allow the water to cool and then use as needed. The CDC says you still need to do this even if your tap water is filtered.

Additionally, you shouldn't use water from any appliances that are connected to a water line. For instance, using your ice and water machines connected to your refrigerator.

For a full list, you can read more from the CDC here.
