MACON, Ga. — Happy 101st birthday Mamie Lee Jinwright!
Mamie Lee Jinwright was born on January 28th, 1923. Her parents were the late Ezekiel Powell and Essie Kinsey Powell.
Since she was an only child, she decided that she wanted many children and to raise them to have a great impact on this world.
She had 8 children. In total four boys and four girls. Two of the sons are no longer with us. Their names are Marvin, Maxine, Melvin, Theresa, Essie, Alfred, Joyce and Rickyand.
She even raised some grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Throughout these years, she has done a plethora of different things for the community in Bibb County -- from working at various schools in their kitchen, being a foster grandparent at the Medical Center of Georgia for several years, and volunteering in her community.
Her family says one of her secrets was to “always find yourself giving back to the community as much as possible!”
Her advice for a long life is to “always put God first and that you must behave well and if you step outside of the lines, you must ask God for forgiveness.”
In her words: “Do right, that’s all you can do!”
Her family says she always paid attention to her health and didn’t stress about many things that were beyond her control and she ate healthy to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Some advice she has for others is to get plenty of rest because "when you rest well, you do well!"
