Georgia Power volunteers come together to paint Forsyth caboose

The group showed up Saturday morning to paint the Monroe County landmark and preserve history

FORSYTH, Ga. — Volunteers from Georgia Power came out to paint the caboose at the Monroe County Historical Society in Forsyth on Saturday morning.

A group of nearly 20 volunteers from Plant Scherer all came out to paint the Forsyth historical landmark.

The caboose, located on 126 E Johnston St in Forsyth, was last painted in 2011. The group, who had "Choose to Be Great" written on a nearby sign, noted that they’re painting the caboose in efforts to preserve history.

They noted that it's an important legacy project and has a big impact on the Forsyth community.

The group does projects like these all year round, as they look to keep historical sites' legacies going when they can.

They showed up around 8:30 a.m. and painted until around 12 p.m.
