Georgia Power is offering a refrigerator recycling program to help its customers save money.
The company says removing an old refrigerator or freezer saves participants up to $150 annually in energy costs.
The program also helps customers use energy efficiently and help the environment.
Georgia Power has been doing this since 2008 with 23,000 recycled thus far.
Customers get a $50 incentive check for having their old refrigerator recycled.
Homeowner Jamie Horton of Macon says turning in the refrigerator is worth the savings.
"I think it's a fantastic idea, giving back to the community. Recycling is a part of everyday environmental studies," says Horton.
Georgia Power spokesperson Brian Green says the refrigerators will be dismantled and recycled in an envrionment friendly manner.
The program is open to all residential customers of Georgia Power.
