GBI investigating man's death in Coffee County

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation believes the man died from injuries he got during a fight.

AMBROSE, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of a man believed to have died from injuries he got during a fight in Coffee County.

According to a press release from the GBI, the Coffee County Sheriff's Office asked agents at the GBI's Douglas Regional Office to help with the investigation Wednesday. 

The release says around 12:50 a.m., Coffee County 911 got a call about a possible dead man on Woodrow Harper Road in Ambrose. 

The man was later identified as 39-year-old Van Brown, according to the GBI.

The release says Brown was in a fight and sustained injuries. The GBI says they believe the injuries caused his death.

Brown's body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Macon, where an autopsy will be performed, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
