LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. — Garland Warren, the 82-year-old man from Laurens County with dementia that was found dead in June, will have funeral proceedings on Friday.
He was missing for two weeks before he was found dead in Butts County.
After two months of waiting, the Townsend Brothers Funeral Home released Warren's obituary and announced his funeral date.
In the obituary itself, the funeral home notes that Warren, at an early age, worked as a farmer before joining Bassett Furniture, where he'd later retire.
The obituary adds that Warren had a love for flowers and for raising hogs, but "his greatest joy" was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
It said that Warren loved to crack a joke and spend time around people. His favorite person to be with was Mary Lou Warren, his wife. The obituary said they were married for 58 years.
The obituary said the funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30 at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with a burial at Gay Cemetery. It added that the family will receive friends between 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.
