MACON, Ga. — Furever After Rescue brought puppies and princesses to Society Garden Saturday afternoon for their "A Decade of Dogs Birthday Bash."
This is the 10th anniversary for the organization.
The event was to help raise money so the organization can continue to bring in more dogs that need a 'furever' home.
Leah Hunter is the event coordinator for Furever After Rescue. She says they have about 60 dogs foster dogs that are looking to be adopted, and the event allows potential pet owners to look at the dogs and see if they are interested.
"We'll have them fill out an application. They can do that in person or on our website, either way. We'll go through their application, make sure that everything checks out, and make sure they're a good fit for our dogs and then they can take them home," Hunter said.
There were also small business vendors selling candles and their arts and crafts. Kids were able to enjoy games while the adults watched the football game with a beverage.
During the event, Hunter said some people filled out an application. She says Furever After Rescue goes to the Pet Supermarket and Wesleyan Market to let visitors know about pet adoption.
Hunter said Furever After Rescue used to have events yearly but has to stop because of the pandemic. Today's event was their first big event since the pandemic protocols ended.
"We wanted to do it big and come out with a bang," Hunter said.
