More on Trooper Cenescar

Trooper Cenescar has been mourned by the Georgia law enforcement community since the crash and was described by Gov. Brian Kemp as a "young public safety officer" who had "years of experiences and opportunities that lay ahead and a career dedicated to protecting others."

According to a Georgia Gwinnett College profile from 2022, he knew he wanted to be in law enforcement from an early age. Born in Haiti, his parents emigrated to the U.S. when he was 4, and he said that "hard work and the tenacity to never give up was instilled in me" by his family.

Trooper Cenescar had been with GSP since Jan. 2023 and was a graduate of the 114th Trooper School, DSP said. In 2021, 11Alive and other news organizations reported when he helped save a man's life as an Atlanta Police Department officer.

In a statement, Gov. Kemp said Cenescar leaves behind his loving family and a fiancée.
