'Gabby left a mark' | Celebration of life service held for Gabby Dixon in Macon

Family shared that Gabby will be remembered as a stubborn but caring girl, who loved her children and excelled in school.

MACON, Ga. — Roughly 100 friends, family members and strangers gathered in Macon Saturday afternoon to remember the life of Gabby Dixon

"We have been through a whole lot of storms in the last nine, 10 months," Reginald Dixon Sr. said. "Everyone has been effected by my daughter going on home to be with Jesus,"

She went missing back in October 2023. In July, law enforcement said her body was found near a construction site in Monroe County.

During the celebration of life, people who knew Gabby shared comments on her impact.

"A man can live 100 years and not leave a mark. Gabby left a mark," one woman shared.

That mark bled onto her classmates. One classmate shared stories of how smart Dixon was. The girl said Dixon inspired her to ready and study more, and even go to college.

One of Dixon's sisters shared that Gabby was one of the smartest among all of the siblings and strived hard to excel in the classroom. In her obituary, her family wrote that Dixon had the option to graduate at 16-years-old, but instead she chose to stay another year to walk with her classmates.

During the ceremony, her family shared stories of how Dixon acted just like her mother, Gabrella Searcy. They say Dixon was determined, stubborn at times and a good mother.

Now, family like Dixon's father, are sharing that they're finding peace in God's word as they mourn. They know they will be reunited with Dixon one day.

The family shared their gratitude for all those who came out to the services and who have supported them in the last nine months.

One of her sisters shared, while their faith is wavering, they thank God in spite of their heart-ache.

"Just like all of my siblings, I loved her," she said. "She was my baby. Even though God chose to take her away from us at a young age. I'm thankful for the limited time we had. I'm thankful for the experiences."
