With the cut of a ribbon Wednesday morning, Freedom Field is open for business.
City and county leaders, as well as local business owners, took a tour of the stadium. The new stadium will seat over 6,000 people.
Both Veterans and Houston County Coaches are excited for their new home field.
“It's just a special place out kids get to call home. They're looking forward to getting in and being able to spend some time here,” said Houston County Coach Von Lassiter.
“It just always felt like we played 10 away games, but here, our name's on the end zone. We've got things that remind us that this is our home too,” said Veterans coach David Bruce.
The Houston County Bears will be the first to play under the new lights this Friday as they take on Eagles Landing.
