There were two two train accidents within an hour of each other in Monroe County Thursday afternoon.
The first accident was at a railroad crossing at Mt. Zion Road and Hwy. 41 near Bolingbroke. It happened at 1:40 p.m. A tractor trailer was struck by a train as it attempted to cross the railroad tracks. The truck was turned over on its side on the tracks and was later removed by a wrecker service so the train could pass. Deputies say cars will be unable to cross the track Thursday night while a deeper investigation is conducted. They can travel on the roads parallel to the track.
No injuries were reported.
The second collision occurred less than 30 minutes later in Forsyth at the railroad crossing at Indian Springs Drive and Railroad Avenue.
Deputies said a passenger car was struck by the train, which was traveling southbound, and one person was ejected, another entrapped and a third person injured.
Two of those persons were transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, the news release states.
Officials did not release the names of the people involved or the nature of their injuries.
