Semi-truck crash in Monroe County spills paint into creek

Monroe County EMA reports the paint is non-toxic, but they're asking people to stay out of the water

FORSYTH, Ga. — People in Monroe County who live along Little Towaliga Creek should not be surprised if they see strangely colored water after a wreck Friday morning.

According to a post from Monroe County EMA, the wreck happened a mile north of Johnsonville Road. They say a tractor-trailer overturned and spilled its load of paint.

Some of the paint ran off into Little Towaliga Creek, behind the River Forest and Riverwalk neighborhoods.

Monroe County EMA says they stopped the flow of paint into the water, but there will be some residual discoloration for ‘several hours.’

They say the paint is non-toxic, but they’re asking people to stay out of the water anyway. With rain in the forecast, they expect the water to dilute the paint quickly.
