FORSYTH, Ga. — A Central Georgia soldier died in a car crash over the weekend, but his brother says he had a happy life even if he was taken soon.
20-year-old Kolton Bush, of Forsyth, was stationed at in Kentucky. The Kentucky State Patrol says over the weekend, Bush drove his truck off Highway 68 into a ravine and died at the scene.
His younger brother, Ryder, says Bush ‘packed 40 years of life’ into the 20 he spent on Earth, and he’s still in shock that he’ll never get to speak to his best friend again.
“We were best friends. I've known him every single day of my life. We were best friends,” said Ryder. “He always had a good time. He loved America, he always had a good time and had his freedom.”
Bush was stationed at Fort Campbell, a US Army private, who was trained to be in the Airborne Infantry.
“He was the guy you could call at 3 a.m. and he’d get out of bed and come get you,” said Ryder.
One of Bush’s friends, Jack Edenfield, says Bush joined the Army after graduating from Mary Persons High School in 2017 and was preparing for deployment.
“He was probably one of the [most] honest, best people I’ve ever met in my life. It was his personality, character, work ethic, everything about him,” said Edenfield.
Ryder says growing up in Forsyth, the pair enjoyed hunting together and driving around in his pickup truck.
He says an autopsy was performed Monday, then his brother's body will be brought back to Central Georgia. The family plans to bury Kolton in Forsyth.
