Mary Persons High School students gear up for the game

Cats and dogs don't always mix, and Friday night, the Perry Panthers and Mary Persons Bulldogs will hit the field. The game is at Dan Pitts stadium in Forsyth at 7:30pm. Claire Davis went to Mary Persons to find out how students are gearing up for the game.

It's not every day you walk into a high school and see sensible shoes and canes. "My great, great auntie's, cousin's, daughter. She hooked me up. Okay, I got my glasses, my bifocals. This is vanity fair actually," said Elijah Hawkins. A football player for Mary Persons.

He pulls off the look quite well, "Well, it's a very festive time here at Mary Persons. We love our school so we just have fun and celebrate it's a very fun time," said Hawkins.

It's homecoming week at Mary Persons High School and students are trading in their trendy clothes for, moo moo's to support their football team. "Probably just how everybody gets so excited for the game and everybody participates," said Caroline Jones a senior at the school.

The Perry Panthers and the Mary Persons Bulldogs will hit the field Friday night. The bulldogs are undefeated and everyone is showing their team spirit with bifocals and blue hair. Madison Ayers is gearing up for the game. "It's gonna be amazing Friday. 13WMAZ should get shots of the student section because we're gonna be amazing, the team is going to be amazing and everything is going to be amazing," said Ayers.

And it's not just all geometry in Miss Johnston's class, she even got into the groove. "It's important to the kids. They love it when their teachers participate. It's not that much of an effort to go by something at Walmart to participate so it's fun," said Johnston.

Some students left their walkers at home, but are just as excited about Friday night on the field. "If we get started off real hot we'll follow through with a win," said Deonte Bond, another senior getting amped for the game.

Students dressed up all week in everything from pajamas to Hawaiian clothes and more.
