Former Macon mayor C. Jack Ellis said he will be protesting outside of Donald Trump's campaign event at the Macon Centreplex Monday.
He said he is doing it because Trump "stands for everything I'm against," and claimed Trump is anti-Muslim, anti-immigration and anti-African-American.
"We are a nation of immigrants," he said. "We can't let (that) voice come into our community. It's our patriotic duty to call him on those issues."
Ellis said he does not know how many people will protest with him, but is inviting anyone who would like to join. He said he plans to be at the Centreplex before the doors open, but says anyone planning to join can come later if they'd like.
Ellis said while he is the state coordinator for presidential candidate Martin O'Malley, this protest is not in O'Malley's name.
Ellis served two terms as Macon mayor, from 1999 to 2007.
Eric Langston of Warner Robins is the chairman of the War Town Young Republicans.
He says Trump's visit is a good thing for Central Georgia, and gives people here a chance to meet the candidate.
Landston says members of his group may have different views on Trump, but they welcome his visit.
"We want what's best for the Republican party and hopefully that Georgia is the road to the White House hence Trump's visit," he said, "Obviously, he sees something great in this area, and that's very refreshing for middle Georgia."
The Trump rally is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free, but parking is $5 per car. Doors open at 5 p.m.
