MACON, Ga. — Former Bibb County School Board President Juawn Jackson announced his candidacy for House District 145 on Wednesday, according to a press release from his campaign.
He graduated from Westside High School and at 26-years-old Jackson was the youngest person to ever serve on the Bibb County Board of Education.
He served as chair of the E-SPLOST Advisory Committee, Middle Georgia Regional Commission, Macon-Bibb Healthcare and Retirement Benefits Committee, and Macon-Bibb’s Judicial Review Board.
“I am excited to announce my intent to qualify for the newly redrawn House District 145 seat representing portions of Macon-Bibb and Monroe Counties,” Jackson said. “I am running on a platform of unwavering integrity and genuine leadership – it’s what our district, our state, and our country deserve in a time such as this.”
Jackson is a University of Georgia, Georgia College & State University, and Mercer University graduate. He has spent his career reducing barriers to college access for first-generation and limited-income students in Middle Georgia. Jackson worships at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, serving as chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Jackson says he is ready to bring firm and effective leadership to the district, seeking to bring unity and real solutions for all Georgia residents, families and businesses.
“It is my mission to advocate for a new, inclusive leadership in Georgia, uniting all citizens beyond race, gender, and politics to make Georgia a model state in the South. My vision is to foster unity and shared progress, elevating Georgia together,” said Dr. Jackson.
