Saturday Suds: Folks gather in downtown Macon for Beer Fest

People had the opportunity to try over 100 different craft beers and wines.

MACON, Ga. — Saturday...it was quite the beer fest with a twist in downtown Macon.

Folks had the opportunity to try over 100 different craft beers and wines.

Voted top ten beer fest in Georgia, there was food, beer, and blood tests for men.

In partnership with pints for prostate, they were giving away 150 prostate tests.

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

The beer fest was started because the originator of the fest was diagnosed with prostate cancer and wanted to raise awareness.

"We're giving away a hundred & fifty prostate blood tests free. You know, prostate cancer, particularly in men is a real issue, and that's what this whole festival is really about & we just kind of attract them with some little liquid libation," said Charles Richardson of the Macon Rotary Club.

The festival has been going strong for 13 years, and it's one of the larger beer festivals in the south.
