MACON, Ga. — There's a new way to get your pets taken care of in Central Georgia.

Fix-A-Pet is a tiny veterinarian trailer that services dogs and cats right inside their mobile unit.

They park in different cities every day, and people drop off and pick up their pets to be taken care of.

On Monday morning, people like Sierra Adams pulled into Gray Commercial Tire  — not because they needed tires, but because their pet needed veterinary care.

"Me and my fiancé thought that the cost that they were doing, and the whole organization was really cool," Adams said.

Adams dropped off her cat Cocoa, who she says is a big part of her family.

"She loves my two-year-old son, and she loves to play and be energetic," she said.

Cocoa needed a spay, which Adams said she paid $90 for.

"When we was looking at research on the internet at other vets, it was around maybe $200 and $250, so it was a lot cheaper," Adams said.

Dr. Paige Vaughn is the owner and veterinarian at Fix-A-Pet, and she said they're proud to offer affordable prices.

"We are able to cut those costs just because our overhead is lower than a brick and mortar facility," Vaughn said.

They focus on surgery, wellness and prevention in parts of town that she thinks could use more vets.

"There's definitely these rural communities that don't have access to veterinary care, so I wanna be able to bring that to them," Vaughn said.

They can do up to 20 surgeries a day, which she said helps people get their pets taken care of sooner rather than later.

"We truly believe that these services, surgery and vaccine care are going to improve the lives of pets, make them live longer, happier, and healthier," Vaughn said.

In January, Fix-A-Pet will be in Cadwell, Cochran, Cordele, Eastman, Macon, Montezuma, Perry, and Jeffersonville.
