Here are the films premiering at the Macon Film Festival 2024

You can view films across the festival's five venues at various times during the day starting on Aug. 15-18.

MACON, Ga. — Central Georgia movie buffs, your time is now.

The Macon Film Festival is back with a selection of nearly 90 movies from abroad and from home.

You can view films across the festival's five venues at various times during the day starting on Aug. 15-18.

One film will have its world premiere during the festival.

The Macon Film Festival partnered with the Fire Starters Film Festival for the international premiere screening of "Red Fever" at the Douglass Theatre on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Directed by Catherine Bainbridge and Neil Diamond, the Festival says "Red Fever" is an entertaining feature documentary about the profound -- yet hidden -- Indigenous influence on Western culture and identity. The film follows Cree co-director Neil Diamond as he sets out on a journey to find out why the world is so fascinated with the stereotypical imagery of Native people that is all over pop culture.

The film uncovers the surprising truths behind the imagery, so buried in history that even most Native people don't know about them.

You can see the film on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

The festival will also screen the short "ᏗᏂᏠᎯ ᎤᏪᏯ (MEET ME AT THE CREEK)," directed by Loren Waters, a citizen of the Cherokee and Kiowa Nations.

"Cherokee elders, like Rebecca Jim, believe that what happens to the water happens to us. Without it, we cannot move culture forward and we cannot exist here," according to a Facebook post from the Macon Film Festival.

Also on Friday, Macon Film Fest and the Museum of Arts and Sciences are partnering together to bring festival attendees the Fulldome - Night of Immersive Event from 7-11 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy a night of exploring art galleries, gyroscope experiences, drinks, food, and immersive special screenings.

This year's screenings are broken up into two blocks:

  • ART IMMERSIVE SHOWCASE BLOCK (58 Minute Block)
  • X-TREME ART IMMERSIVE (47 Minute Block)

Throughout the festival, you can also enjoy screenings from a diverse group of creatives.

There are screening blocks for short films, films shot in Georgia, films for the family, and films by LGBTQ+ filmmakers.
