Warner Robins churches host 'Feed the City' event to give out Thanksgiving meal bags

The bags included things needed to make Thanksgiving dinner, like turkey, cans of corn, green beans, boxes of macaroni, box stuffing, and more.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Two churches in Warner Robins today made sure folks in their community had plenty to eat for Thanksgiving.

Hope Church and Freedom church hosted their 'Feed the City' food giveaway on Saturday, where 1000 bags were given away to those in need.

The bags included things needed to make Thanksgiving dinner, like turkey, cans of corn, green beans, boxes of macaroni, box stuffing, and more.

The churches wanted to provide everything needed to make the holiday dinner possible so they could prepare them with their families and have a true feeling of having dinner together.

"Well one thing that I think that I really love about this is just the elation in a person's face when they're actually receiving what would normally probably not be on their table at this time of year, to just be able to give to them in that way," said JC Hill, from Hope Church.

It is the 26th year the event has been held, and it started out with just a few families in the beginning but has grown over time.

The giveaway was from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.
